Community members gathered on Saturday morning outside at the Frisco Ranch Shopping Center off Preston Road in south Frisco to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

It was a family-friendly event featuring traditional dragon and lion dances, musical performance sand the announcement of winners of the K-12 art competition sponsored by the Frisco Arts Foundation.

The event was sponsored by the Frisco Asian Community Empowerment organization and the Frisco Inclusion Committee.

Lunar New Year is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar. It is the most important holiday in China, and it is also widely celebrated in South Korea, Vietnam, and countries with a significant overseas Chinese population. While the official dates encompassing the holiday vary by culture, those celebrating consider it the time of the year to reunite with immediate and extended family.

If you were not able to attend the event, do not worry. You can check it out by viewing more than 40 photos from the Frisco Enterprise and Star Local Media! (click on the link below)
